Brush thoroughly - Clean twice a day with fluoride toothpaste

Fluoride in the toothpaste helps protect teeth from decay. Teeth can decay when bacteria in the mouth produce plaque acids which dissolve minerals in the hard enamel surface of the teeth. Fluoride helps teeth use the minerals in saliva to mend themselves after being attacked by plaque acids. Teeth can even decay overnight, while you are asleep, so brush and floss your teeth before going to bed as well as in the morning.

Have regular check-ups - Visit your dentist at least once a year

Your dentist will check on how well you are cleaning your teeth and show you how to do it better if necessary. Regular check-ups ensure that your dentist can spot any problems early on and provide appropriate treatment.

Cut down on sugary snacks - Have food and drinks containing sugar less often

Frequent consumption of sugar and starch, plus acidic foods and drinks can cause decay and erosion. Bacteria in the mouth use bits of food to produce plaque acid, which attack the teeth. The acid attack can last up to 20 minutes everytime you drink or eat. If you want to have sugary, starchy or acidic food and drink, have them at the end of a meal when they will do less harm because your teeth will be attacked by acid less often.

Chew ORBIT sugarfree gum after eating and drinking - ORBIT sugarfree gum is proven to reduce decay by up to 40%

Chewing ORBIT sugarfree gum stimulates saliva, which neutralises acid and helps stop it attacking your teeth. However, whilst chewing ORBIT is an enjoyable way to look after your teeth when you are out and about, you should still brush your teeth twice a day.
